Shout Lulu String Band is Paul and Skye McGowen, Pete Howard, and Seth Shumate. The McGowens met Pete while traveling and busking in Arkansas in 2006. In 2007, Paul and Skye moved to Fayetteville, AR and teamed up with Pete.  Seth saw the band perform in Fayetteville in 2008 and immediately became a member of the family.

Paul McGowen (banjo, fiddle, cello, dobro, vocals) street performed at various markets in Seattle and Portland beginning in 2002. He was also a member of The Tallboys from 2002-2006.  The Tallboys regularly performed in Washington, California, and Oregon.  And, they were a key part of the West Coasts Old Time music revival. 

Skye McGowen (baritone ukulele, banjo ukulele, flatfoot dance, jawharp, vocals) has been performing with Paul since 2005.  Her strong sense of rhythm is key to Old Time dance music.  

Pete Howard (fiddle, bones, jawharp, vocals) played fiddle, banjo, and bowed bass with The Skirtlifters.  He has judged and performed for the Arkansas State Fiddle Championship at the Ozark Folk Center, where he also regularly teaches Ozark style fiddle workshops.

Seth Shumate (harmonica, vocals) has been performing his incredibly tasteful harmonica style for the past 5 years.  One of the premier players in the country, he's played with many bands in Arkansas and Scotland.  He has a unique gift for playing old tunes authentically, often sounding like a second fiddle and adding a wonderful sound to the band.

Whether playing on the street, at a festival, or in a venue, Shout Lulu throws a party and invites everyone to join them. Shout Lulu parties like it’s 1899. A time when even the chairs rocked! The Old Time music they love and play puts the audience first, providing danceable rhythms, high energy music, and "quite lovely harmonies." Performances feature flatfoot dancing, rhythm bones, jaw harp, fretless banjo, fiddle, ukulele, harmonica, and a catawampus 3 stringed cello.
